“This is the third time this happened this week!” Officer Niles said to Chief Gordon. “Whenever we find these dead bodies, all that is left on them is dark, black hairs, and deep claw marks in their bakcs in the shape of a circle, with the letters S and H scratched in the middle of the circle.” Chief Gordon sighed and scratched his head. “All I can think of now, is that there is a psychotic serial killer on the loose!” Chief Gordon said anxiously. “All our officers can’t find any new leads in those woods! I would never send anyone out there alone or at night though, I don’t want more people being murdered.” Officer Niles and Chief Gordon walked out of the office together. “Officer Niles, you are dismissed from your duties today,” Chief Gordon said. “Please get home safely.” “Yes sir, you have a good night.” Officer Niles replied, and walked out of the police station. He drove home, to see his wife, son, and daughter waiting for him at the dinner table. He put is coat away, and sat down tiredly into a chair. “So Dad, did you get any more information on the Shadow Howler?” His 13 year old son Andrew asked. “The what?” Officer Niles asked. “The Shadow Howler,” Andrew said. “That’s what everyone at school is calling him. There are some kids in my class who live near those woods, and they say they hear a weird howling every night.” Andrew said. “Oh, well I might put that down as a new lead, but those could be rumors, Andrew.” Officer Niles said. “So, how was work honey?” Mrs. Niles asked Officer Niles. Officer Niles sighed. “We just can’t find anything new in those woods. We can’t put this puzzle together.” Officer Niles said frustrated. Andrew thought of a risky idea. “Hey Dad, can I go in those woods tonight and see whats out there?” Andrew asked. “Absolutley not!” Officer Niles replied. “Do you know how dangerous that is Andrew?” His mother asked. His sister Hayley added in. “What a dumb and dangerous idea!” “Oh shut up!” Andrew told Hayley. After, they all finished dinner, they all headed up to bed, but Andrew wasn’t asleep yet. Andrew had a plan. Andrew slowly, and quietly opened his window, and climbed down from his room, landing on the deck. He quietly went in the garage, and got his bike. He mounted his bike, and set out for the woods. When he got there, he shuddered in the thought of the Shadow Howler roaming those woods, waiting for it’s next innocent victim. He lay his bike in the field, and started up the dusty path. While he was walking, he heard faint, creepey cries in the night sky. That must be him, Andrew thought to himself. He kept walking up the hill, to see claw marks in the trees, and bones hidden in the tall grass. He later found a corpse of a doe, which had looked like something had eaten part of it’s leg. He kept walking on and saw nothing more. He sat by a tree to rest, and that’s when things starting getting scary. He kept hearing howls, echoing off the trees in the woods. They kept getting louder and louder. He stood up, ready to see a horrid creature run in front of him. He heard a twig break, and low growls in the wind. He turned to a bush rustling. Andrew did not know what to do. He started to walk down the trail, making his way back home. He heard the howl again, louder than ever and was suddenly knocked down. He got scratched on his leg, which made him cry with pain. He turned up, and saw the most utterly terrifying thing he had ever seen in his life. There sitting right in front of him, was the Shadow Howler. He has long, matted coarse black hair. His claws, were over grown, touching the ground. He had glowing white eyes, with no pupils or color in them, just pure white. He had razor sharp fangs, obviously a carnivore. His body shape was skinny to the bone, he almost looked like a human. He had a deer skin cloth tied around his waist, going down to his top theighs. He let out a ghastly howl, and pounced on vulnerable Andrew’s chest. The Shadow Howler began ripping and tearing at his chest, biting Andrew’s arms, and scratching his legs. Andrew was despratley screaming for help, at the top of his lungs. Andrew turned over, and the creature scratched his back up, the worst effected area of his body. Soon, the Shadow Howler took off into the night, running on his two hands, and two legs, on all fours. Slowly, Andrew fell asleep. Andrew woke up in a hospital room, surrounded by his father, mother, and sister. “Oh my goodness, your ok!” Mrs. Niles exclaimed. Mrs. Niles kissed Andrew’s forehead, and hugged him gently. “I got attacked by that, that, thing!” Andrew said. “We were worried sick about you, but luckily Chief Gordon and I found you.” Officer Niles said. “That was very stupid of you Anfdrew.” His father said scoldingly. “Thank god you are ok.” “Dad?” Andrew asked, “Did you catch the Shadow Howler?” “No, no we didn’t son.” Officer Niles said sadly. “You were the only person to ever survive the attack of that creature!” Officer Niles said. “When you are feeling better, we want you to explain everything to me and Chief Gordon about what you have seen.” Officer Niles said calmly. Andrew Niles was the only boy in his town of Guttersfield, to survive the attack of the Shadow Howler. When Andrew recovered, he explained everything to the police. The police have never yet found the Shadow Howler, and more people have still been dying because of his attacks. But someday, they belive they will catch him. He still lurks the woods of Guttersfield. People who live near the woods still hear his ghastly, terrifying howls at night. The Shadow Howler lives on.
